October 5th Edition of
The K/1 Class News
Hello Everyone! What a wonderful week.
On Monday we practiced printing the letter t and welcomed Mrs. Creech in to start up our Oral Language Groups. These groups focus on the foundational literacy skills needed to learn how to read and write and will happen every Monday in class.
Tuesday, we learned there are different ways to represent numbers (tens frames, dots etc.) and played a game using these skills. The kids went to Music class and during our forest time, we started learning about cedar trees.
On Wednesday we talked about what it means to be thankful, and then wrote in our journals. We had a lot of fun making apple crumble! The kids all peeled, chopped, and mixed the yummy treat! The sun was shining for us as we walked to Shell Beach. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Thanks Soma, Alix and Ananda for helping out!
Thursday was the Garden Harvest lunch! It was so special to come together as a whole school to share a meal that everyone helped harvest and prepare. We also made pumpkin art and worked on our math skills.
The kids are enjoying sharing their special items from home on their show and tell day. Next week they are encouraged to bring something that begins with the letter ‘Bb’. Please try to stick to your day so we have time to hear from each child. Thanks! Here is the list again; it will be the same every week:
Monday or Friday: Abby, Aurora, Ava, Avery and Celeste
Tuesdays: Fiera, Gemma, Journey, Jordan and Jupiter
Wednesdays: Logan, Nayaan, Nina and Ollie
Thursdays: Sanghé, Siena, Westley, Wren and Yuawi
