Newsletter #14

 December 17th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hello Everyone!

Here is the last newsletter before the break!

On Monday the class worked on printing the lowercase letter ‘x’, made pinecone ornaments and learned the Word of the Week (he). Later, we enjoyed time in the forest.

Tuesday, we practiced our math skills through a dice activity, and wrote about what we want to do over the Winter Break. The kids went to Music class in the afternoon.

Wednesday was out first Pizza Day! Everyone was very excited about this. We also played a math game with dominos and has a special holiday treat of a show. Later we visited the bog and played in the forest. The library is closed for the break and will be back open in the new year.

On Thursday we searched for words in a word search activity, enjoyed a presentation from Mr. Lightfoot’s class (outside) and had our last buddy reading session with Mrs. K’s class. Later the class went to Music and we had a special treat from Ms. Mullan, who came baring candy cane gifts! The kids helped clean up the class and we also searched for missing sand toys in the forest. What great helpers!

Important dates to remember:

January 4 School re-opens.

Just a reminder that I like to re-use the art folders if you can send them back. I hope you enjoy looking through some of the work we do at school.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday, even if it will be on the quiet side, and we will see you next year!

Warmly,

Ara Van Riel

The Kindergarten Class News

Hi Everyone!

Happy Friday. Here are some highlights from our 5 day week:

On Monday, the class worked on their printing, combined art, math and writing in a festive project and learned the word ‘the’ for our word of the week. During our outdoor time, we compared stick lengths and made natural Christmas trees.

Tuesday was out Re-Gift Fest! Thanks to all of the parents who helped out with this. The kids had so much fun picking out special gifts to give you. We also started working on categories in our Oral Language Groups, wrote about what we love to do in winter and went to Music class.

On Wednesday we were number detectives, worked on rhyming and went to the library. The kids continue to enjoy frolicking in the forest and harvesting kale and apples from the garden.

On Thursday the class worked on letter identification, went up to Ms. K’s class for buddy reading and had Music class. Josey brought in her dreidels and taught the class how to play. Thanks, Josey!

Friday was a school day on a Thursday schedule! It was also PJ day. We had fun in the gym, played a math card game and worked on a letter matching activity. The kids had a bonus Music class, and we went out to the forest.

Next week is our final week of school before the break! Please check the dates below to see what will be happening.

Important dates to remember:

Wednesday, Dec. 16 Pizza Day! All Library books back please.

Thursday, Dec. 17 Last day of school before Winter Break begins. I will be sending home large art folders. Please save these and send them back empty on the new year. If your child is going on the bus home and you drop off in the morning, tap on my door and I can pass you the folder so they don't need to bring it on the bus.
