Newsletter #14

 December 16th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hello Everyone!

Here is our last newsletter before the break!

On Monday the class worked on printing the lowercase letter ‘u’, went to Music class, and combined math, art and literacy in a festive project. Later we made Christmas trees out of nature and enjoyed playing in the forest.

Tuesday, we practiced our number recognition through a Bingo activity, and started making our own little penguin books. Library books were signed out so please be sure to keep them safe over the break.

Wednesday was a busy day! We played with dominoes, continued working on our penguin books and then had our Christmas concert! It was such a treat to all gather and enjoy presentations from each class. You will be sent a link to watch the recording.

On Thursday we worked on our books and then had our first Read-In! Kids signed up to hear holiday stories and went to hear them in multi-aged groups. Later we joined up with 2 other classes to enjoy a special treat of Max and Ruby.

Yellow art folders were sent home. If you can send the folders back to be re-filled, that would be great!

Also, please be sure to send new spare clothes/indoor shoes if you took them home.

Show and Tell will be letter L when we return.

Important dates to remember:

January 4 School re-opens.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday and we will see you next year!

Warmly,

Ara Van Riel and Ms. Janice

 December 10th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hi Everyone!

It was another busy week!

On Monday, the kids were excited to start the week off with a light snowfall! The class worked on their printing, went to Music, played, and made festive holiday art. You will be receiving a large folder of art from this term. Please return the folder in January to be re-filled.

Tuesday, we started working on categories in our Oral Language Groups, practiced writing our numbers and went to the library. Please make sure to send books back by next week. We will not be sending books home over the break.

On Wednesday we practiced counting with dominoes, discussed and wrote about how we are all the same and all different, and went outside for nature studies.

Thursday was our Re-Gift Fest! Thanks to all the parents who helped with this. The kids had so much fun picking out special gifts to give you. We also worked on identifying the beginning sound in words, learned more about penguins, and enjoyed time in the forest.

Friday was a school day on a Monday schedule! It was also holiday colours day. We had fun in the gym, made Christmas ornaments, learned about the cedar (Xpey’) tree with Quinten and had a bonus music class.

Next week is our final week of school before the break! Please check the dates below to see what will be happening.

Important dates to remember:

Wednesday, Dec. 15 Christmas Concert (to be recorded and shared out)

Thursday, Dec. 16 Last Day of school before Winter Break begins. I will be sending home large art folders. Please save these and send them back empty in the new year. You may want to arrange to pick up your child to avoid a big load on the bus and to check if there is anything you would like to bring home for the break (jackets, boots ect.).

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
