Newsletter #31

 May 27th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hi everyone, here is our last newsletter of May.

Monday, no school.

On Tuesday the class practiced counting by 10, played ball tag in the gym and learned more about community helpers. They also wrote about what they may like to be when they grow up! Later the class went to the library. Please return all library books. The library will soon be closed for inventory.

Wednesday, we continued writing in our journals, either finishing or adding to previous work or starting a new story. Later, the children went to Whole School Meeting and had fun in Centres. For nature studies, the class went on a nature scavenger hunt and then we practiced reading. Many of our eggs started to pip (crack).

On Thursday we were welcomed by 5 hatched chicks in the morning! They are tiny little puff balls of cuteness. By the end of the day 10 out of 13 had hatched. We had free choice in the gym and then started a session on mental health. We will be talking about different feelings and how to identify how we feel and if we need help to calm down. Later we studied the life cycle of the butterfly and then had a fun afternoon visiting the fire hall! It was a very exciting trip.

Friday was a school day and also the Kindergarten Orientation (for next year). The class made a welcome art for the visiting kids and helped make sure the classroom was ready. We continued our mental health project and went to Music class. The class had a picnic in the outdoor classroom and enjoyed forest play.

We have more trips coming up that I could use help with. If you are free and would like to walk with the class to my farm on the afternoon of June 10th or to join us as we walk to Drummond Park on the afternoon of June 21st, please let me know. I would love 2-3 parents on each walk as we travel along the busy road.

Important Dates to Remember:

June 2nd Primary Fun Day and the PAC BBQ!

June 10th Trip to Mrs. Van Riel’s farm

June 16th Conservancy filed trip

June 21 Year End Whole School Picnic at Drummond Park
