February 6th Edition of
The Kindergarten

Happy February Everyone!
It was an eventful week.

On Monday we worked on our printing, made some Valentine’s inspired artwork and welcomed our student teacher, Courtney Meeker into our classroom for the week. Later we worked on the elements of a story in the outdoor classroom and had forest play.

Tuesday we worked more on our measurement unit, had our Oral Language groups, and enjoyed a visit from Quentin. It was a snowy day and the kids all enjoyed their time outdoors.

On Wednesday we learned more about healthy food choices, had free choice in the gym and wrote about snowy days in our journals. The kids are starting to sound out their own words and I am excited to see some great progress.

Thursday we had our skating field trip! It was a fun day for everyone and even the first time skaters did well. Thanks to the volunteers who tied laces, helped the skaters and made this trip possible. It was a fun trip.

Next week I will be sending home booklets of raffle tickets. PAC has organized a raffle to help raise money for the school. The lucky winner will win a cord of wood. If you sell any tickets, please send the money and stubs back to class by Thursday, February 24th. The draw will take place on February 27th at the Spring Showcase.

Important dates to remember:
February 13 Valentines Day class party/Island Health screenings
February 17 Family Day (no school)
February 21 School in session
February 26 Pink Shirt Day
February 27 Spring Showcase

Warmly,
