October 22nd Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Greetings Everyone!
We had another fun week! It started out with a wonderful trip to the pumpkin patch. We all enjoyed visiting the farm animals and picking out a pumpkin.
The class is learning about journal writing and are focusing on communicating through a picture with added words. The group did a great job adding more detail to their entries this week and are starting to keep the words on the lines.
We started creating a nature art journal to connect to the different seasons and the senses. Everyone did a great job using natural items to make different colours on their page.
Each day we play letter and number games. The class especially liked counting pumpkin seed pictures around the room and finding hidden felt letters in nature.
We all had fun learning the rhyme, “Five Little Pumpkins” and combined art and literacy in a fun craft.
Home reading folders were sent home on Tuesday. These little books are just a starter to get in the routine and build confidence using patterned text. The idea is to keep the folder in the planner bag so I can check progress and exchange the book each school day. Once the log is filled up, they get a little prize. Thanks for your help with this!
Next Thursday we will be celebrating Halloween at school! We will have a shared snack in class if you feel like contributing. Keeping it on the healthy side is appreciated. There will be a costume parade, and the winner of the library pumpkin contest will be announced.
Next week is Dd for Show and Tell.
