          The K/1 Class News

Hello once again!

We had another eventful week! The rains are here, and I send a big thanks to all of you for sending good rain gear to school. I’ll do my best to make sure these little ones are bundled up for our outdoor learning. Good rain boots are also essential, as the forest pathways will be flooded soon. You can help at home by encouraging independence when dressing/undressing for outside as it can take a long time to help everyone zip and get boots on and off.

There were some fun highlights this week! Everyone had fun dressing up for Halloween and we all enjoyed the costume parade and a haunted house!

We finally had our first fire drill, and the kids were great! They were very brave.

The trip to the Blackburn Lake Nature Reserve was a memorable part of the week. We learned about how different plants and animals prepare for winter and explored our five senses through a variety of fun explorations. We were happy the rains cleared, and it was a sunny day. Everyone was well dressed for any weather!

I am pleased to announce that next week we will be welcoming a student teacher in to work and learn with our class as she completes her practicum. Cheryl Ruff will be with us for the next 6 weeks and will gradually be sharing in the teaching load. Some of you may know Ms. Cheryl from the community or from her work as the district Indigenous Child and Youth Care Worker or, before that, an ECE on the island.

Important Dates to Remember:

November 6th Ms. Cheryl starts her practicum

November 9th – Remembrance Day Ceremony at school

November 7th -The Circle

November 16th Artist in the classroom, felting workshop

Have a great weekend!
