Newsletter #23

 March 18th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hello Everyone, here is the last newsletter before the break. I hope you all have an excellent holiday. I have a lot of fun things in the works for the last term!

This week on Monday we practiced printing the lowercase letter y (a challenge for our young learners!). We also made beautiful spring flowers in art, went to Music and enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the garden and forest.

Tuesday, we started learning about beginning sounds in our Oral Language groups. The kids practiced isolating the beginning sound in words. We also practiced solving addition equations and went to the library.

On Wednesday we started independent writing in our journals. The kids are practicing using their letter sound knowledge to add their own words. Well done! We also practiced addition problems with the sum on 10 and went to nature class. It was a lovely day.

Thursday was a very exciting day! It was Mr. Lightfoot’s last day of teaching. He has taught at Fulford for the last 34 years. Wow! We had a Whole School Meeting to say goodbye. We also looked for our hidden names in paintings, cleaned the class and went for a treasure hunt! What a fun end to our term.

We will be celebrating 100’s day on April 6thIf your child wants to start collecting 100 items to bring in to display on 100’s day, I thought I’d give you some extra notice. Some ideas are: button collection, small items glued on posterboard, a jar of 100 noodles etc.

We will be on the letter ‘Vv’ for Show and Tell when we return after the break.

Important dates to remember:

April 4 School back in session
