Newsletter #11

 November 25th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Greetings Everyone. Another week goes by and it’s starting to feel much colder! Here is a bit about our week:

On Monday we had fun making puppets of our whole class! We also practiced printing and went to Music class.

Tuesday, we continued working on our numbers and then had fun learning about different life cycles in our Oral Language groups. Later, the kids went to the library and, like always, went to the forest.

On Wednesday we continued dissecting the numbers 1-5 and then discussed what helps a picture tell a story. We are focusing on adding details to our pictures when we work in our journals. The class learned about ravens in nature class and worked on reading.

Thursday was another rainy day. We have been learning about why some words rhyme. The kids always look forward to “free-choice Thursday” in the gym and later we started an inquiry study on penguins. After being cooped up all day inside (no outdoor lunch or recess) we were all happy to go out to the forest in the afternoon. If your child has borrowed boots or rain paints, please send them back next week.

We are thrilled to be going ahead with a special Fulford tradition called, Re-gift Fest. This focuses on the act of giving and families are asked to donate gently used toys/household items for this event. The kids will have a chance to “shop” for gifts to give to the members of their immediate family. Please bring in items next week. We suggest bringing in at least one item per member of your family.

Next week is ‘Ii’ week in Show and Tell. If your child has an item beginning with the “Ii’ sound they would like to bring we welcome it.

Important Dates to Remember:

November 2rd is an early dismissal day for parent-teacher meetings. Sign-up link was shared.

December 9 Re-gift Fest “shop”

December 17 Winter Break begins

Enjoy your weekend!

Warmly,

Ara Van Riel and Ms. Janice
