Newsletter #29

 April 29th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hello Everyone.

Here are some highlights from our week. I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.

Monday, we started playing with the parachute in the gym. We also practiced printing the number 3. Later we started a poetry unit using sight words and had a bonus Music class to make up for one missed last week. We continue learning about insects and became “bug detectives” in the forest!

On Tuesday we continued blending sounds together in our Oral Language Groups. We learned that some insects have different mouth parts and eat in a variety of ways! The kids brought home books they made. Ask them to tell you about the different ways of eating.

Wednesday we practiced insect themed addition equations in math and wrote in our journals. Later we went to the library and practiced reading. In the afternoon, we had nature art and played in the forest.

On Thursday the class used their creative thinking to imagine what type of insect they would be if they had a choice. Later I read, “The Six Cedar Trees” by Margo Landahl and talked about how the animals represented in the book relate to our learning. The kids all connected to different animals. Later, we had Music and went outside on a walk to the bog. The water sure has receded since our last visit! It is almost gone!

Important dates to remember:

May 6 Dance Workshop begins on Thursdays

May 14 School in session

May 24 Victoria Day-no school

May 28 School Day

Have a nice weekend.

Warmly,
