June 13th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News

Hi everyone, here are the highlights of our busy week!

On Monday we practiced our counting, enjoyed gym outside and wrote in our journals. Later we worked on a Father’s Day project and enjoyed time in the forest.

Tuesday a hot one! The caterpillars have transformed into the chrysalis form and the kids are thrilled to watch these changes happen. They became little scientist and made notes about what they have seen happen in their observation journals. Later we painted props for the play and went outside.

On Wednesday we welcomed Elizabeth, a kindergarten teacher from Australia, in to help out for the day. We worked on printing, went outside again for PE and finished up our Father’s Day project. Later we worked on reading and ran through our play. It is coming together.

On Thursday we played letter/number BINGO in the morning and then enjoyed Mr. Lightfoot’s class play. It was fantastic! Great work. The kids loved all of the dance numbers. Later we had centres and watered the garden. Thursday was also Marrella's birthday and we all enjoyed the homemade cookies that were baked by Marrella's mom. Thanks!

Our trip to Victoria is coming up. I still need another volunteer if you are able to come and if you haven't sent in the permission slip, please do so on Monday.

Also, if you are able to come and walk from the school to Drummond Park on the 24th, we will be leaving the school at 12:40pm and would appreciate the extra help. Everyone is welcome to come and join this year-end picnic tradition. The kids will be catching the bus back to the school for the usual bus runs. If you are attending the picnic you can obviously bring your child home with you from the park.

On June 27th, the last day of school, you are invited to join the class for slideshow highlighting our year. We will start the slideshow at 10:45am. Following the slideshow we will have a completion ceremony and then say goodbye! It is my hope that everyone can be there for this special completion of our year and to pick up all of your child's belongings, there can be a lot to carry.

Important dates to remember:
June 16th Father’s Day
June 20th Field trip to the Royal BC Museum and Petting Zoo
June 24th End of the year picnic at Drummond Park. We leave the school to walk down at 12:40pm. Please join us there!
June 25th Dress rehearsal of “The Little Red Hen”
June 26th Class presentation of “The Little Red Hen” at 2:00pm. Hope to see you there!
