May 16th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News

Hi everyone, here we are halfway through May already! Here are this week’s highlights.

On Monday we started off our day with our whole school and class photo.  We also went to the library and then worked on counting in the little butterfly books that were sent home. The kids practiced writing in their journals and we had another session of Nature Art.

Tuesday we continued learning about insects and then went on an insect counting hunt to practice our math. Later the kids rotated though stations all involving words belonging to the “at” family. They really powered through these activities! In the forest, we learned about more edible plants and some plants that should never be eaten.

On Wednesday we had a fun trip to Ganges. We visited the fire hall, had lunch at the park, went to the library and then played/snacked at the SSE playground. What a fun afternoon! Nikky at the library generously signed out books for kids who didn’t have a library card (under her name) so please remember to bring back all library books to the public library when you are done with them. It was a full, fun day.

On Thursday morning we practiced what to do in case of an earthquake. The kids all did a great job. Later, we went to Whole School Meeting, had Music class and played a math game. We also had our last Oral Language Groups of the year. Thanks to those who sent change in for our community fundraiser.

Please join us on May 30th, after school, for our annual PAC hosted BBQ fundraiser. This is a fun event for the whole family with good food and fun games. It is a nice, social way to end the month.
