February 22nd Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News

Hi Everyone!
Here are some highlights from our week:

Monday the school was closed for Family Day.

On Tuesday the class had another fun dance lesson from Robynn Scott, worked on printing and measured using unifix cubes. Later Glen came in to continue working on our class story.

On Wednesday I was away at a Union meeting. The class worked on rhyming, focused on adding details in their journals and practiced reading.

Thursday was our Whole School Meeting. This term we are raising money to donate to the SPCA. Thanks to those who brought in spare change. Each class was entered into a draw for a pink shirt and two pink bracelets to help support Pink Shirt Day (next Wed.). Elijah won the pink shirt and Chet and Aurelia won the bracelets. Congratulations! West, Rowan and Jamie presented their art.

Friday was a half-day. The kids continued to work on adding interesting detail to their writing/pictures and we worked more on story making.

March 7th will be an early dismissal day for the Student Led Conferences. This is a mandatory activity as it is considered your child’s report card. If you cannot make it on the 7th we will have to reschedule. Buses will run as usual and will leave the school at 11:30am.

Registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now open! If you know of anyone with a child turning five this year, please advise them to see Jenny in the office to register for Kindergarten.

Important dates to remember:
February 27 Pink Shirt Day
February 28 Spring Showcase
March 7 Early dismissal for Student Led Conferences
March 15 First day of Spring Break
April 1 School back in session

Warmly,
Ara Van Riel
