 October 16th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Happy Friday Everyone!

We have had another eventful week. The class continues to practice using Whole Body Listening when it is expected and we are working on filling up our kindness jar. Ask your child what this means.

Monday was Thanksgiving so the school was closed.

On Tuesday we played a fun letter matching game, worked on counting spiders and went to Music. It was a stormy afternoon and we ended the day with a power outage. The class was very good about it!

Wednesday we practiced writing our numbers from 1-10, wrote about our holiday weekend in our journals and selected new books to take home from the library. Please remember to send back your book each week.

On Thursday we worked on matching uppercase and lowercase letters, played a number race and went to Music. We also enjoyed time in the forest. There are many impressive forts being created!

Friday was a school day and PJ day!  We worked on our printing, made festive pumpkin art and went outside to learn and play in nature.

Next week's Show and Tell will be for the letter 'Cc'.

Furthermore, we will be starting our home reading program next week! The children will select a 'just right' book each day to bring home and read with you. This is a wonderful opportunity to bond with your child while also helping them on their journey to become a reader. Please watch for the purple reading folder to come home in the planner bag. The idea is to record the book read and return it every day for a new one. More information will be included in the reading folder.

Next Thursday, October 22nd, we are going on to the pumpkin patch (assuming we have no issues with the bus availability)We will be leaving the school at 9:30am and taking the school bus to and from the farm. Each child will get to pick out a pumpkin to bring home! We will return to the school at 12pm. If your child is catching the bus home that day we may need to keep the pumpkin at school to be picked up at a later time. Please hand in the $7/permission slip by Wednesday at the latest.

Important Dates to Remember:

October 19- Picture day

October 22- Fieldtrip to the pumpkin patch

October 31- Halloween!

Have a nice weekend.

Warmly,
