The Kindergarten Class News

Hello Everyone! With the cold and flu season here, we had many children (and myself) missing this week. I admit that I feel rather 'out of the loop' this week having missed most of the week due to being unwell. Here are some highlights from our week:

On Monday we had a wonderful whole school gathering outside to recognize Orange Shirt Day and place orange rocks in recognition of the unmarked graves that were discovered in Kamloops earlier this year. We also practiced printing the letter t,  went to music class and played and ABC game outside.

Tuesday I was home sick but the kids practiced reading, wrote/drew about a family trip and went to the library.

On Wednesday we talked about what it means to be thankful, and then wrote in our journals. We also had a visit from a few special fire fighters and had our first fire drill! I hear the class did a great job.

Thursday we only had 8 kids in class but we practiced counting using dice and pumpkins, made pumpkin art and enjoyed watching the "digger" fixing up the garden.

Please forgive me if there has been any missed communication on my end, like I said, I was not here for most of the week.

We have planned a trip to the pumpkin patch next Thursday! The kids will ride the school bus with 2 other classes to Bon Acres Farm. We will leave the school just after lunch play and return at the end of the day. Please be sure to send weather appropriate clothing on this day and a water bottle. Permission slips went home today (Thursday) and will be sent home Tuesday for those not here. Return as soon as possible.

The kids are enjoying sharing their special items from home on their show and tell day. Next week they are encouraged to bring something that begins with the letter ‘Bb’. As there is no school on Monday, we will be starting with the Tuesday group and the Monday group will show on Friday. Please try to stick to your day so we have time to hear from each child. Thanks! Here is the list again; it will be the same every week:

Monday or Friday: Arye, Baden and Emmi

Tuesdays: Farley, Fen, Jesse and Kieran

Wednesdays: Milo, Raven, Remi and Robin

Thursdays: Sammy, Sylvan, Teo and Vaughn

As there will be school on Friday, we thought it would be fun to have a pyjama day! No need to pick out clothes for school, come in your PJ’s!

Please remember to fill out the criminal record check (if you haven’t already) if you are thinking about volunteering your time in class or on fieldtrips. To access the online request go to: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/. Access Code: DNW8SBGDPQ Thank you!
