May 2nd Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News

Hello all,
This week seemed to fly by! It’s a busy time now and many things are being fit in to our usual days.

On Monday we worked on our printing, continued with gymnastics in the gym and started learning about insects! Later we read, “The Rainbow Fish” and the kids created amazing fish of their own.

Tuesday wrote about a time we felt happy or a time we felt sad as a part of a Whole School Wide Write. The kids were encouraged to show what they could do without help. Wow! They are really turning into little writers.

On Wednesday Robbyn Scott returned to start another dance unit in the morning. She will be returning every Wednesday for the next 4 weeks. We also worked on addition and wrote in our journals. Later Kaz started a unit on nutrition with the class and then we walked to the bog. The water has receded quite a bit and there’s a lot more plant life than the last time we were there. The kids had fun observing nature.

Thursday we had our Whole School Meeting (Jasmine, Caleb and Violet showed their Rainbow fish), Music and our Oral Language Groups. Later we headed out to the garden to do some weeding and watering. Our peas are starting to shoot up! The kids all love working in the garden.

We will be going on a field trip to the firehall and library (among other places) on Wednesday, May 15th. We will be picked up by the school bus at 10:30am and will return at the end of the day. I will be requiring 2-4 volunteers to come along and help on the trip. If you are able to come, I will take the first to respond. Thank you! Green permission slips were sent home today (Thursday). Please return the form along with $5 by next week.

Library card registration forms were also sent home. If you would like your child to be able to sign out a book from the public library that day, please fill out and return the form no later than next Thursday. If your child already has a card you can send it with them on the day of the trip.
