Newsletter #26

April 11th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News

Hello families, here are a few highlights from our week.

On Monday Mrs. Freeman was teaching for me. The class wrote in their journals, went to the library, learned more about 3D geometric shapes and had their second Nature Art session.

Tuesday we learned about the phases of the moon, did another shape activity, practiced printing the letter ‘w’ and more.

On Wednesday we worked on adding with dominos, practiced our syllables and worked on reading. Wednesday was free-choice in the gym, always a favourite.

Thursday we went to Whole School Meeting (Emma and Marrella were randomly drawn to present) and went to Music. We continued working with speech sounds in our Oral Language Groups and also focused on ending sounds. Later we braved the rain and cold temperatures outside and planted peas in the garden. We hope to watch our peas grow into edible crops!

Pizza order forms were sent out on Tuesday. Please return the form/$ by Monday if your child is partaking. Pizza day will be on Thursday, April 18th

I have decided to postpone the walking trip to Pebble Beach as the weather is calling for rain. Stay tuned for the new date.

There will be many fieldtrips and events coming up over the next couple of months. Please be sure to check the blog and school calendar each week to stay up to date.

Each month 2 children are randomly drawn to receive a free book from Scholastic. If you see a coupon in your child's planner, that is what it is for. You can redeem your book online.

Important dates to remember:
April 15th Scholastic Book orders and pizza orders due.
April 18th Pizza Day
April 19th Good Friday
April 22nd Easter Monday (No School)
April 26th School in session (Friday)

Have a nice weekend.
Warmly,
Ara Van Riel
