Newsletter #8

 October 30th Edition of

The Kindergarten/1 Class News

Greetings!

Another week goes by. The rains have finally arrived. Please insure your child has proper rain gear and boots when they come to school as we go out every day. It seems the cold and flu bugs have also arrived, and I thank you for keeping your child home when they are sick.

We have been enjoying taking our learning outside and had fun searching for felt letters hidden around the forest, going for a scavenger hunt and noticing signs of fall. We also continue to work on our numeracy and literacy skills and have begun exploring what categories are in our Oral Language groups.

We had fun celebrating Halloween on Thursday! Everyone looked great in their costumes, and we showed them off at the costume parade. We had a fun time going in the spooky haunted hallway put on by the older kids. We played Halloween Bingo and went to Music class.

Please do not send kids with Halloween candy in lunches. As always, we appreciate candy treats to be saved for home.

Important Dates to Remember:

November 6 – Photo re-takes

November 11 – Remembrance Day (no school)

November 14 – School Day

Have a lovely weekend and Happy Halloween!

Warmly,

Ara Van Riel

Greetings Everyone!

Another week flies by! Please remember to return all sold or unsold raffle tickets on Monday. Also, Monday is a HALF DAY! Pick up is at 12pm (or bus). Sign up for parent/teacher meetings here: https://signup.com/go/xPiceeN

We had fun making lavender filled ghosts on Monday (thanks Abey!). We also have been working through literacy stations and have started trying to find different ways to represent numbers.

Tuesday was “Take me Outside” day and the whole school enjoyed multi-aged nature stations.

We have been working on the elements of a story though wordless picture books. Fun! The children also made pumpkin poems using rhyming words.

Next week is Ee for Show and Tell.

Next Thursday will be our Halloween celebration at school. Kids are welcome to dress up (all weapons are to be left at home, and masks are only worn during the costume parade). We will do a shared snack at the end of the day if you would like to send something in (on the healthy side please). There will be a haunted hallway that is optional and will be toned down for the littles.

Important Dates to Remember:

October 27 – Early Dismissal for learning update meetings

October 30 – Halloween dress up for school, costume parade and PAC raffle draw!

November 6 – Photo re-takes

November 11 – Remembrance Day (no school)

October 17th Edition of

The K/1 Class News

Happy Friday Everyone! What a fun week.

Monday was Thanksgiving so the school was closed. We started the week off with our trip to the pumpkin patch! It was a fun and festive outing.

This week was our turn to help in the garden, and everyone was fully involved in either planting bulbs or clearing out old crops. Our garden team is fantastic! If you feel like joining them, contact PAC. We have been learning more about number formation and counting in math.

Friday was a school day and PJ day!  We worked on our literacy in hands on rotating stations, wrote about what we might dress up as for Halloween and had free choice in the gym. As always, we went outside to learn and play in nature.

Scholastic Reading Club book orders were sent home last month. These affordable books are a great way to help our class raise money for our classroom library! The order date is coming up.

Class photos were sent home at the beginning of the week. Retakes will be on November 6th

Next week is the letter D for show and tell.

Important Dates to Remember:

October 27 – Early Dismissal for learning update meetings

October 30 – Halloween dress up for school, costume parade and PAC raffle draw!

November 6 – Photo re-takes

I hope you all have a very nice weekend.
