 September 15th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hello Everyone!

We had an exciting first week as a whole class.  Everyone is learning about our rules and routines such as sitting in the circle, following the group plan, cleaning up, or forming a line at the door.  Good start!

The students have enjoyed getting to know one another this week and have had lots of fun learning about names and spending time in nature. They are also learning how to play safely with each other in the gym and outdoors. Here are some highlights from our week:

On Monday we hunted for our first initials and made letter art. We continued learning about the routines of our school day. The kids were very excited to go to the gym! We also learned a little more about our new friends and enjoyed searching for different colours in the forest.

Tuesday, we practiced tracing our numbers to 10, played in centres and went to Music. Later we explored the “small” forest before the end of the day.

On Wednesday was a half day. We continued to work on playing safely and cooperatively in the gym, wrote in our journals and went to our first Whole School Meeting.

Thursday, we learned more about our letters through a fun game, had free-choice in the gym and played a lot. Later the class went to music  and then we learned and played in the forest. We ended off our week with our Terry Fox run! The children were amazing! Well done.

Thank you to those of you who have already returned the student information forms and class fees. Rebecca needs them all back by Monday.

Next week we start our All About Me presentations! Here is a reminder about who is scheduled for the week:

Monday- Celeste

Tuesday- Dash and Beau

Wednesday- Journey and Julian

Thursday- Kaizen and Levi

Just a reminder to please keep your child home when sick. Some easy tips to remember are:

-stay home for 24 hours after vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever.

-stay home if mucus is thick, green and needs constant blowing.

-Stay home if they have a persistent cough (lingering coughs are understandable) or a sore throat.

Once energy levels are back up and cold symptoms have lessened, come on back!

I am looking for a parent who would be willing to take on the position of class rep. This person would communicate info from the PAC, if needed, and activate the emergency phone tree if schools were closed due to the weather. Please let me know if you would like to be this person. I will take the first to respond.
