September 22nd Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello Everyone!
It was a good time to have a short school week, as many children were home sick. Thank you for this as I know it can be an inconvenience, but it helps so much with the spread of germs in class as these little ones are still learning about hygiene. If your child has a persistent cough, especially a wet cough and is wiping their nose, please help by keeping them home. As previously noted, some coughs can last weeks and when this is the only symptom and it has dried up, we understand. They must be well enough to participate in all school activities, such as running without it triggering exhaustion or a coughing fit. Thanks again.
The children continue to do an excellent job adjusting to life at school. They are adapting and are aware of expected behaviour and routines.
On Monday the school was closed in a day of mourning.
Tuesday we had 7 out of 17 kids in class. We worked on counting, finding the letters of our name in an apple themed activity, went to the gym and enjoyed the sunny day. The class enjoyed story time and centres before going to music. The afternoon was spent in the small forest.
On Wednesday we learned about patterns and used paint and stamps to make our own patterns. Later we went to another Whole School Meeting and Ollie and Beau presented their letter art to the school. Good job! Logan (the grade 5/6 teacher) taught us some local Indigenous words and we will continue to learn new words each week. We also went to the library for the first time. We will be visiting the library every Wednesday so please be sure to return books before then each week.
Thursday was a beautiful end to the summer season. We worked more with the letters in our names and then had free choice in the gym. Later the class went to music, and we explored items that might sink or float while in our outdoor classroom.
We are enjoying the All About Me projects. Thanks for all your hard work! Please send in your poster when it is ready for the class to enjoy. If you missed your date, please send in the photo board whenever it is ready. Here is the schedule for next week:
Monday-Logan and Nina
Tuesday-Oak and Ollie
Wednesday-Raewyn and Reilynn
Thursday-River, Sean and Yuawi
