May 7th Edition of
The K/1 Class News
Hello all,
This week seemed to fly by! The chicks are settled in at the farm and even have been adopted by my Silkie hen.
Next, we move onto learning about butterflies and receive teeny tiny Painted Lady caterpillars soon. We will study their transformation over the next few weeks.
Our pumpkin seeds we started, for farmer Douge, sprouted up quickly and have now been taken to be planted at the Byron pumpkin patch. Maybe he will grow the biggest pumpkin for the Fall Fair again!
The kids continue to progress in reading and writing and are learning about punctuation. We are also studying the elements of a story and have begun writing our own books!
Our focus in math is number sentences and measurement.
The school play is next week! Our flower costumes turned out great. Now all your child needs is to dress in green or the colour of their flower (they should know but you can ask me). The afternoon performance is next Wednesday at 1:15pm so either send the clothes they want to wear to school or dress them in them that day. They will need the outfit again the following evening. The children can be dropped off at the classroom at 5:30pm to get ready for the 6pm show. You can leave (if you want) after they perform, just let me know you have taken your child.
Search and Rescue came on Thursday, and the class participated in a lesson on what to do if you get lost in the woods. Hug a tree!
