October 28th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Greetings!
Another week goes by. The high winds brought down many colourful fall leaves for the children to explore.
This week we began our Home Reading program! Thanks for participating in this. The kids are so proud to announce they read the “little books”. If you can keep the reading log and book in the planner bag, it makes it easier for me to keep track of progress. Thanks!
On Monday we continued to learn about printing and practiced the lowercase letter ‘c’. Later we made spiderweb art and talked about warm colours vs cool colours. Monday was music and also a very wet afternoon! We still managed to get outside.
Tuesday was our Oral Language Groups. This was our last week with story sequencing. Later the kids practiced their numbers, went to the library, and checked out a new book.
On Wednesday the children played Halloween I-Spy counting, wrote in their journals, and had nature studies with Ms. Cameron.
Thursday was Spooktacular! The day was full of Halloween fun including a costume parade, games and more. It was fun seeing all the kids’ costumes! We were invited to join Ms. K's class in the afternoon for a short Halloween program. The kids loved it!
We have been enjoying the regular Show and Tell days! Next week the children are encouraged to bring something that starts with the letter E. We are working our way through the alphabet.
Next Thursday I am planning on taking the class on a walking fieldtrip to Shell (aka Pebble) Beach if the weather is clear. I will need 1-2 volunteer parents to accompany us. If you have filled out the criminal record check and are free, please let me know! We will leave the school at 12:40pm and return by the end of the day. I’ll take the first parents to respond.
