October 21st Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Greetings Everyone!
We had another beautiful week! It was great having nearly everyone back in class. Here are some highlights to keep you in the loop.
Monday, we worked on printing the lowercase letter ‘f’. The class also had a Bus Safety presentation and learned about riding the school bus and crossing the road in a safe way. As usual, they went to Music in the afternoon and then we went outside.
On Tuesday, we discussed different ways to represent the number 2, went to the library and had our Oral Language Groups. Later we made nature crowns and became Ambassadors of the Forest! The kids had fun finding special gifts from nature.
Wednesday, I was away at a union meeting. The class had a great day of learning. They found the letters in their name, wrote in their journals, and had nature studies. They also practiced reading and went outside.
Thursday was a fun day! We practiced our numbers 1-10, had free choice in the gym and learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Later we made pumpkin art and had a lot of fun in the forest playing and finding treasures.
I have put together a class contact list. A paper copy was sent home on Thursday, and I will email another out. I know the kids all love connecting outside of school hours and “play dates” are great for this.
Next week I will be starting our Home Reading program. The kids love choosing a “just right” book to bring home to read to you. Keep an eye out for this in the planner bag.
