April 12th
Edition of
The K/1 Class
News
Hello families, here are a few highlights from our
week.
On Monday the class enjoyed using ribbons during gymnastics, went to
the library and practiced blending colours in art. Later we walked to the bog
and listened for birds and frogs and played camouflage.
Tuesday Baby Max came to visit
and showed off his growth. The kids always love it when he comes. Later we
worked in our journals and rotated through literacy stations. In the afternoon
we made nature sun catchers in the outdoor classroom.
On Wednesday we played a pirate themed
number game focusing on recognizing if a number is bigger or smaller than
another (more or less). The kids loved it! Later we planted seeds in the garden
and braved the wind and cold temperatures outside. We hope to watch our
seedling grow into edible crops!
Thursday we worked on word families, went
to Whole School Meeting and Music. Later we had Laura Keil join our class to do
a clay workshop. Everyone had fun getting their hands dirty! We also started
making a book on plants that grow around our forest and property. We learned a
bit about some of the traditional First Nations uses of some of the plants.
