Newsletter #29

April 19th Edition of
The K/1 Class News

Hello again.
The kids had another fun week, aside from the sickness going around. We hope that everyone is well soon and that this is the last of it! Bring on warmer weather.

On Monday we practiced front rolls in the gym, worked on printing and went to the library. Later we painted our flower puppets and collected sticks for our stems during forest play.

Tuesday we worked in our journals, had Roots of Empathy and played a pirate game in the gym. We worked on identifying the ending sound of words in our Oral Language groups.

On Wednesday Mrs. Freeman taught the class so Mrs. Van Riel could attend and present at an Early Literacy in-service for early primary teachers. It sounds like the class had a great day. They worked on different ways to make the number “6”, practiced reading and wrote in their journals.

Thursday we practiced identifying the beginning sound in words, had free choice in gym and went to Whole School Meeting. In the afternoon we welcomed Lisa Lipsett in to start an ongoing nature art project with the class. We will participate in this wonderful program once a week for the next six weeks.

Next week we will be welcoming a new student, Jamie, into our class!
