Newsletter #27

April 6th Edition of
The K/1 Class News

Hello families, we hope you all had a good break.

Tuesday was our first day back and everyone was happy to see each other. We started gymnastics skills in the gym, wrote about something we did over the holiday in our journals and started back up with our Oral Language groups. Later we talked about how birds make nests and tried making our own.

On Wednesday we started a pirate theme and played a math game looking at one more and one less than a number. We also had a lot of fun searching for “invisible” letters and numbers using paint.

Thursday we had free choice in the gym, went to Whole School Meeting and Music. Later we read another pirate book and make pirate self-portraits! They turned out great.

Friday was a school day and we ran on a Monday schedule. We practiced printing in the morning and in the afternoon we shared a traditional indigenous story of how the cedar tree (tree of life) came to be, and learned a bit about cedar and its uses. We will also made flowers.

On Thursday a notice about our upcoming Spring Showcase was sent home. This is an opportunity for your child to showcase their talents (be it on stage or through a creation they have made). The details are outlined in the notice but if you have any questions please ask.

Our beautiful new school mural is finished! Next time you are at the school you will see it on the outside of the building as you come in. Our class painted the top left panel. It looks great!

Important dates to remember:
FUEL Math night 5:30pm
May 1 Spring Showcase

Warmly,
Ara and Klare
