December 1st Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello Everyone!
What a beautiful, cold end to our week.
On Monday the class worked on printing, made winter trees in art, and worked on letter names/sounds. We practiced printing the lowercase letter ‘e’. We are still working on using proper pencil grip, a skill that helps make writing easier. Here is a link to how to encourage this at home. https://youtu.be/Eq6ggYR-aeY As always, the kids also had fun outside.
Tuesday, we had snow! Thank you for sending your child well dressed for this weather. Everyone had a lot of fun outside. We revisited life cycles in our Oral Language groups, learned more about the number 3 and went to Music class. We also had fun learning a dance taught by Josh from JESS Dance. Later we performed it and enjoyed watching the other classes dance.
On Wednesday, the class rotated through literacy centres in small groups. It was a lot of fun! We had our Whole School Meeting and Beau and Raewyn presented their winter tree art. Well done! After that we were joined by some big buddies who helped us decorate the school Christmas tree!
On Thursday we talked about our favourite winter memories in our journals. The kids continue working on adding details to their pictures and trying to add words. It was an extra fun, albeit busy, day as we got to celebrate the joy of giving. The children each carefully selected a gift to bring home for the members of their immediate family from our annual Re-Gift Fest! This is always a highlight and good practice on thinking of others before oneself.
We have been practicing “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” to sing at our Snow Queen play on Dec. 14th. Please try to practice singing at home.
Next week is ‘Ii’ week in Show and Tell.
