September 26th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello Everyone!
We have had an exciting first month of school! I am so impressed with how well adapted the kids already are and how quickly they have learned our routines. They have embraced our school rules of showing kindness to self, others and our environment.
We have been working hard on learning to print our names “the school way” (appropriate lowercase letters) and everyone is catching on.
In math, the focus has been patterns and counting. The kids have started to be able to identify the core of the pattern and can create or continue patterns in a variety of ways.
We have had fun learning new games in the gym that teach cooperation, awareness and safe movement.
A favourite time of the day is our outside forest or garden learning. The kids learn about all subject areas in nature through hands on activities and creative exploration.
We have really enjoyed the All About Me presentations! If you missed your day, please send it in whenever it is ready. Regular Show and Tell will start next week and we will be focusing on bringing items that begin with the letter of the week (Next week is the letter A). Here is your child’s day for the year:
Mondays (or Friday if Monday is a holiday): Amaya, Ashton, Aylee and Clem
Tuesdays: Eden, Ellis, Hugo and India-Rose
Wednesdays: Kari, Louie, Lou and Maia
Thursdays: Marlee, Max, Rowan and Shepherd
Please send one item each week on this day. If it is NOT your S&T day, please leave all toys at home. Thank you for your help with this.
Remember to fill out the criminal record check (if you haven’t already) if you are thinking about volunteering your time in class or on fieldtrips. To access the online request, go to: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/. Access Code: DNW8SBGDPQ Thank you! A gentle reminder to send in the $30 class fees if you haven't already done so.
I am looking for some parent involvement. Firstly, if you are able to be our class rep and attend the monthly PAC meetings, please let me know and I will pass on your name. The next meeting is Monday, Oct. 7th at 8:30am. This is a great way to be involved in the school.
I need 2-3 parents to come help us cut/peel apples for the school’s Garden Harvest Lunch. If you are able to come in from 10:30-12 on Thursday, Oct. 3rd please let me know as soon as possible.
