November 10th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello Everyone!
Another week flies by. It was an interesting week starting out with snow! Here are some highlights:
On Monday, we learned about printing the lowercase letter ‘c’, practiced underhand throwing in the gym and made poppy art for Remembrance Day. Mrs. Creech will be teaching an extra literacy class on Mondays, and she started with a fun name activity.
On Tuesday we practiced counting and writing numbers 1-10, we continued learning about storytelling in our Oral Language Groups and went to music. We also practiced “Little Poppy”, a poem for Remembrance Day.
Wednesday, we identified different feelings and what our face looks like when we are feeling different emotions. These social cues are so important in successful play. We chose a feeling to represent in our journals. Later we practiced our poem and went to the library.
Thursday, we counted fall leaves and made number books. We also presented the “Little Poppy” poem at our Remembrance Day assembly. The kids did a great job! Quinten visited in the afternoon and shared a story of why his carved cedar canoe paddle is significant in his culture. The class then decorated their own paddles.
Firewood raffle tickets were sent home. Good luck to everyone who enters! Please return them/$ when they are sold or by the date on the booklet.
Important dates to remember:
Nov. 11 Remembrance Day
Dec. 1 Re-gift Fest
Dec. 14 Winter School Play
Dec. 16 Winter break begins
Have a nice weekend!
Warmly,
Ara Van Riel
