Newsletter #5

 October 15th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Happy Friday Everyone!

We have had a very unusual week. Understandably, we had very low attendance. Thank you to everyone for keeping your child home with even the mildest cold symptoms. We hope this passes quickly and we can return to normal class activities soon.

Monday was Thanksgiving so the school was closed.

On Tuesday we looked at different ways we could represent the number 1. We also had our first Oral Language groups where we worked on story sequencing. The kids exchanged books in the library, and we collected and sorted different coloured leaves outside. We ended the day with 4 children

Wednesday, we wrote about your long weekend in journals, had nature studies with Ms. Cameron and practiced reading. Later we made leaf prints outside and played in the forest. There were 3 children in class.

On Thursday we played a turkey dice game in math, used Lego to form letters and enjoyed big centres. Later we made patterns using leaves and spent the afternoon outside. Once again, we had 3 children come to class.

Friday was a school day and PJ day!  We worked on our printing, made festive pumpkin art, had music class, and went outside to learn and play in nature.

Our trip to the pumpkin patch has been rescheduled to Oct. 28th. New permission slips will go home with your child. Please return them when you can.

Important Dates to Remember:

October 28- Fieldtrip to the pumpkin patch

October 31- Halloween!

November 1- Photo retakes

I hope you are all staying healthy and have a very nice weekend.

Warmly,

Ara Van Riel and Ms. Janice
