October 29th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Greetings!
What a beautiful week. The weather is cool now, time to bundle up!
On Monday we continued to learn about printing and practiced the lowercase letter ‘j’. Later we made some very cute “sneaky cats” and played in centres time. The kids were excellent word detectives and the class enjoyed hearing the First People’s legend of why Mt. Maxwell is “hunched” over.
Tuesday was our first session of our Oral Language Groups! Each week we will learning about different aspects of phonological development. This week we started with story sequencing. Later we welcomed local artist and district Aboriginal Education contact, Quentin Harris into the class. Our time with him is always full of laughs and humour. This time he shared a story and we made canoes.
On Wednesday I was away at a union meeting all day. The kids practiced their numbers in math, wrote in their journals and played some fun games outside. Wednesday is library day and the kids who returned their books were able to sign out new ones.
Thursday I was away for another appointment, but it was a Spooktacular day! The children came to school in costume and enjoyed many Halloween-themed activities.
Once again, we have now started our regular show and tell rotations. Each week your child has a day to bring in one item from home to show to the class. Please keep in mind that each day has a number of kids assigned to it so if your child misses his or her day we may not have time to fit them in on a different day. Here are the days again:
Monday or Friday: Arlo, Desmia and Ella Mae
Tuesdays: Eva, Gia and Josey
Wednesdays: Lia, Lula and Mateo
Thursdays: Rory, Rosemary, Stella and Will
Next week we are looking for items that begin with the letter ‘Ee’.
Important Dates to Remember:
Oct. 31 Halloween
Nov. 11 Remembrance Day (no school)
Nov. 13 School in session

Have a lovely weekend and Happy Halloween!
Warmly,
