October 22nd Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Greetings Everyone!
We had another beautiful week! Here are some highlights to keep you in the loop.
Monday was an exciting day, with school photos. If your child was away on this day, retakes will be announced soon. We have been talking a lot about kindness and how to be a good friend at school. Ask your child if they remember what a ‘cotton ball’ or ‘sandpaper’ word is. On Monday, we also started our home reading program! The kids are excited to pick a book each day. You will find the book in the planner bag.
On Tuesday we worked on printing the lowercase letter ‘f’, made funny jack-o-lantern art and went to Music. There were quite a few students away again. Outside, we talked about traditional uses of the rose hip and harvested some from our forest.
Wednesday, we practiced counting/writing numbers through a Halloween eye spy game. We also wrote about our favourite colours in the journals and played at centres. Most of the kids signed out new books from the library. In the afternoon, we made rose hip tea out of the rose hips we had harvested.
Thursday was our trip to the pumpkin patch! Many of the kids were excited to take the school bus for the first time. It was a fun and festive morning at the farm. Later, the class went to Music and we ended our week in the forest.
We are on to the letter Dd for Show and Tell next week! It has been fun seeing what the kids come up with for their day.
Next Thursday is dress up day at school! Students are welcome to come to school in their costumes (we will have a costume parade in the morning with the whole school). Just a reminder that weapon aspects of a costume should be left at home and if there is a mask involved, the mask will only be worn during the costume parade.
