 June 8th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Hi Everyone, we had another busy week and it was a lot of fun. We are nearing the end of our school year! I hope that all the children will be here for our last few days of school as there are many exciting events planned. Please let me know if you will be starting your holiday early.

On Monday we practiced our printing before getting ready to head out on our field day to Duck Creek Park! It was a fun day of learning in nature. We learned all about different creek and field communities and enjoyed the variety of stations.

Tuesday was another warm day! We started learning about financial literacy in math. The first concept was balance/value. We also finished up our work with the C.A.R.E. kit and made shadow drawings outside (a little tricky with the wind!).

On Wednesday the class continued working on different ways of counting with Mrs. Creech using small collections, five finger counting, number lines, tens frames and more. Instead of library, the class went on a sense’s scavenger hunt! We also had a lockdown drill, and the kids did very well. The example given was how we could hide and stay quite if a cougar was in the building, and everyone thought it was pretty fun.

Thursday was another fun day. We practiced placing value on natural items (shells, rocks etc) and learned how to trade for an item of equal value. We also made art inspired by the book, “ish” and had our last Big Buddy activity.

Important Dates to Remember:

June 14 Fire drill

June 26 School/Family Picnic at Drummond Park

June 28 National Indigenous Day

June 29 Kindergarten graduation celebration and slideshow (2:30pm…you are invited!)

Warmly,
