October 6th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello Everyone! Another beautiful week.
On Monday we did the EPRA reading assessment and started our Printing Like a Pro program that works through the lowercase letter in order of ease. We started with the lowercase letter l, remembering to start from the top down. We also made beautiful pumpkin art using oil pastels and paint and practiced making patterns in the forest.
Tuesday, we talked about how kind actions fill our own imaginary buckets as well as others and drew what makes us have a full bucket. We continued practicing our pattern making skills and went to Music class.
On Wednesday we talked about what it makes us happy, and then wrote in our journals. We also signed out new books from the library. Please send the books back next week if you are done with them. Later we went to the Whole School Meeting and Kaizen and Celeste presented their pattern art. We all had a great time cutting and peeling apples in preparation for making applesauce. Thanks, Sara for coming in to help!
Thursday, we practiced our numbers through a pumpkin themed dice game. It was also an exciting day because of our Garden Harvest Lunch! It was so nice gathering as a school and eating the food that we all helped prepare. The kids loved being in the “fancy restaurant” aka the gym that the volunteer parents made look so nice.
Next week we will start our regular Show and Tell! Every child will have a day to bring one item from home to show the class. Next week, children are encouraged to bring something that starts with the letter Aa. We will be going through the letters of the alphabet each week. Here is the Show and Tell schedule that will be the same all year:
Monday or Friday if Monday was a holiday: Anna, Beau, Celeste and Dash
Tuesdays: Journey, Julian, Kaizen and Levi
Wednesdays: Logan, Nina, Oak, Ollie and Raewyn
Thursdays: Reilynn, River, Sean and Yuawi
As there will be school on Friday, we thought it would be fun to have a pajama day! No need to pick out clothes for school, come in your PJ’s!
Please remember to fill out the criminal record check (if you haven’t already) if you are thinking about volunteering your time in class or on fieldtrips. To access the online request go to: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/. Access Code: DNW8SBGDPQ Thank you!
