December 2nd Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello Everyone!
What a beautiful end to our week. The class has really started to gel and a whole group and it’s so nice to see them playing so well together.
On Monday the class worked on printing, made cute penguins in art, and went to Music class. As always, the kids also had fun outside.
Tuesday, we sequenced 6 step stories in our Oral Language groups, played a math game and went to the library. It was also our first lockdown drill. Us adults were a little nervous about introducing this drill as we all have prior knowledge of why this is used and the scary stories that we have heard. The kids, however, do not have these associations and thus did the drill just fine. To my surprise, it was actually a highlight of our day for many of them!
Wednesday, we practiced counting through a festive reindeer activity and we talked about our favourite winter memories in our journals. Later the class had nature studies and then we helped decorate the school Christmas tree!
On Thursday we played a penguin themed game focusing on the initial sound in words. Later we learned about what penguins like to eat and connected to what we like to eat! The kids all had a short day to facilitate our parent-teacher meetings.
We have been practicing a song to sing at our Winter Concert that will be filled for all the parents to enjoy. The kids are very excited. Date to be announced.
Thanks to all of you who have already donated gently used items for our Re-Gift Fest. We are still hoping for more donations next week.
Next week is ‘Jj’ week in Show and Tell.
Important dates to remember:
December 9th Re-Gift Fest
December 10th School in session on a Monday schedule.
December 17th Winter Break begins
Have a healthy and happy weekend.
Warmly,
Ara Van Riel and Ms Janice
