September 24th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello Everyone!
The children continue to do an excellent job adjusting to life at school. They are adapting and are aware of expected behaviour and routines. This was a week of low attendance! I hope we have more children back next week. Also, I am still looking for a class rep. If you want to take on this role, let me know.
On Monday we only had 5 children in class due to the cold that has spread. I want to thank everyone for being so diligent in keeping children home if you feel they are contagious. This is also the perfect opportunity to talk to your child about how important it is to keep hands-to-self while at school. Some of the kids (naturally) are still working on remembering this and this is a perfect example of why we need to try really hard.
The 5 of us at school continued working on remembering the letters in our names, played in the gym and went to an outdoor Whole School Meeting. We also played a sink or float activity in the forest!
Tuesday we learned more about the alphabet and started working in our journals. The kids went to Music in the afternoon and then enjoyed learning and playing in the forest.
Wednesday was a wet one! Thank you to everyone for sending your child so well equipped to be out in the rain! We made colourful letter art and went to the library! Please return the books by next Wednesday so that your child can sign out a new one. They will visit the library every Wednesday. Wednesday afternoon we took a walk to the nearby “bog” where we will return frequently throughout the year to watch the seasonal changes.
Thursday was a half day and we continued our work with patterns. We also learned a bit more about colours and shapes. It was a nice end to the week. Congratulations to Ana who won the class draw for a shirt for Orange Shirt Day and to Eva and Lia who won orange bracelets!
We continue to enjoy the All About Me projects. Please send in your poster when it is ready for the class to enjoy. If you missed your date, please send in the photo board whenever it is ready.
Wednesday, September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. This is a day students and staff are encouraged to wear orange in spirit of reconciliation and hope because every child matters. Here is a link to give you more information. https://www.ictinc.ca/blog/what-is-orange-shirt-day
