June 6th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hi everyone, here are the highlights from our busy week!
On Monday morning we made more symmetry butterfly art. Then Janet came in to help do some reading assessments with the class. Also, we were all very excited to have our baby caterpillars arrive! We will observe the development and transformation of these little critters, as they become butterflies. Later we wrote about the caterpillars in our journals.
Tuesday we had our trip to Ruckle Park. What a fun day in nature! The class was divided into small groups, led by the Salt Spring Conservancy volunteers, and travelled through forest and ocean learning stations. It was a full and interesting trip. When we returned to the school we finished off our field experience journals and had centres play.
On Wednesday had free choice in the gym, worked on printing and enjoyed hearing some stories from Quentin. Later, we practiced our reader’s theatre and enjoyed a demonstration in honour of National Indigenous Day.
On Thursday we went to Whole School Meeting, Music class and worked on math. Later on we welcomed next years kindergarten students into the class for our kindergarten orientation. It’s always nice to see how this year's students turn into the “big kids” and help the little ones feel comfortable.
We are down to the final weeks of school for the year. Please keep track of the upcoming events.
