April 4th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello families, I hope you all had a good break. It is nice to feel the beauty of spring all around us after such a long winter.
Monday was our first day back and everyone was happy to see each other. We started parachute games in the gym, wrote about something we did over the holiday in our journals and went to the library. Later we had our first session of Nature Art with Lisa Lipset. What a beautiful day!
Tuesday was 100’s day! We celebrated the 100th day of school by counting to 100 in different ways throughout the day. We also celebrated the completion of the class story that Glen helped create by hearing the final version and having a pizza party. What fun! Later we worked on printing, did more math and enjoyed another beautiful day in the forest.
On Wednesday we had free choice in the gym, worked on our reading, glazed our clay fish and worked on syllables. We also enjoyed hearing a First Nations legend about the hummingbird, shared with us by Quentin, and had forest play.
Thursday was another full day. We worked on addition through domino math, started up our Oral Language Groups again and talked learned a bit about Earth Worms. We also had Whole School Meeting where we learned some very sad news about the passing of Marie’s beloved dog Brea, who visited the school often. The kids all loved Brea and she will be missed.
I am planning a walking fieldtrip to Pebble Beach (weather dependant) on April 16that 1pm. If you would like to join us on this outing, please let me know.
