February 28th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hi Everyone! What a week!
Here are some highlights:
Monday we started learning about basketball in the gym, learned about the four season and finished off our animal story workshops. You will see the finished products at the Student Led Conferences. We finally visited the library, after many missed weeks and went outside.
On Tuesday the class had another fun dance lesson from Robynn Scott, worked on printing and measured using unifix cubes. Later Glen came in to continue working on our class story.
Wednesday was Pink Shirt Day! It was great seeing the school support anti-bullying in this way. We started learning about the moon and made moon art. We also wrote in our journals and practiced our reading. Kaz came in to continue teaching the class about their bodies. This week Kaz talked when it is appropriate for another person to touch your private parts (for example, if you are sick, hurt or being washed).
Thursday was another fun day. We had our Whole School Meeting (Marrella, Emma and Jace showed their moon art), Music and our Oral Language Groups. We are working on compound words at the moment. In the afternoon we all enjoyed the Spring Showcase. There were many amazing acts and creations. Everyone loved it!
Reminder:
March 7th will be an early dismissal day for the Student Led Conferences. This is a mandatory activity as it is considered your child’s report card. If you cannot make it on the 7th we will have to reschedule. Buses will run as usual and will leave the school at 11:30am. Please sign up for a time to meet, if you haven’t already done so.
Registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now open! If you know of anyone with a child turning five this year, please advise them to see Jenny in the office to register for Kindergarten.
