Newsletter #39

June 28th Edition of
The K/1 Class News

Happy summer everyone! Here are the highlights of our last week.

On Monday we played tail tag in the gym and worked on our last letter in printing practice. We sung a butterfly song and had big centres. In the afternoon we walked down to Drummond Park for our end of the year picnic! There was beach exploration, parachute, popsicles, face painting, and fun! Thanks to all the parent volunteers and families who joined. The kids did really well walking down with their buddies.

Tuesday was our trip to Victoria! We had a fun and full day. We were surprised to have the Salish Raven ferry boat. On the way to town we stopped at a park in Sydney for a short play and then went to the museum. The kids loved checking out the exhibits. We then went IMAX for a movie about Egypt and then returned to the museum to complete our tour. We ended up skipping the petting zoo in order to explore more of the museum. THANK YOU to the parents who came to help. You really stepped it up and were great leaders for your group. It made the day much easier having you all there.

On Wednesday, we had our last “free choice” in the gym and then wrote about our summer plans in our journals. After recess we had a special treat of watching “The Gruffalo” movie. In the afternoon the kids cleaned up the class and got ready for our last day.

Thursday was our last day of school for the year! We attended the grade 5 goodbye ceremony and then had our own goodbye celebration. Thanks to all of the families who made it out for this. It meant a lot to the kids.

Important dates to remember:
September 4th School starts

We hope you have a wonderful summer, whatever it is that you do. Thanks for a great year!
