 February 10th Edition of

The Kindergarten Class News

Greetings Everyone!

The week began with a beautiful sunny day that got us all thinking of Spring. We were all so impressed by the finished fence around the garden and the clean outdoor classroom. Thank you to all of you parents who helped with this!!

Monday was a full day. The children continued their printing practice, made Valentine’s Day bags, and went to Music class. The weather was amazing for our afternoon in the forest.

Tuesday, we had another session of our Oral Language Groups, and we continued our work with sentences. We also worked more on measurement and the class went to the library. The kids were excited to join a Zoom author presentation and hear a reading by author, George Johnson, of his book, “Marisa and the Mountains”. They were able to ask questions and found it very interesting!

On Wednesday we worked on a letter sound activity, wrote a LOVE poem in our journals, and had nature studies. Later we went to the forest and noticed the signs of Spring.

Thursday, we continued working on our nutrition project, our measurement unit and learned a new “Word of the Week” (the). The kids helped tidy the class and got it set up for next week. How helpful! In the afternoon, we played with Quinten in the forest.

Next Monday will be our Valentine’s celebration. We will exchange cards and may have a few treats.

Our school will be having a Scholastic Book Fair library fundraiser on March 10. Would you like to volunteer to help?

Also, if you know of any children who will be turning 5 this year, Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year is now open.

The Kindergarten Class News

Happy February Everyone!

I am happy to be back in the classroom this week. Even though I knew I needed to stay home to recover, it's always hard taking time away from the kids.

Monday was my last day at home, but the class worked on printing, talked about the Lunar New Year. The afternoon was spent in music class and in the forest.

Tuesday was our Oral Language groups where we focused on segmenting sentences into words. The class also went to the library and did a Chinese New Year math activity.

On Wednesday we started a balance focus in the gym, began learning about measurement in math and wrote in our journals. Later the class went outside for nature studies and practiced reading.

Thursday, we continued learning about measurement by comparing sizes and had free choice in the gym. We also started a unit on nutrition and went “shopping” for fruits and vegetables for our balanced nutrition plates. Later we learned our “word of the week” (I) and went to the forest.
