April 6th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News
Hello families, I hope you all had a good break. It is nice to feel the beauty of spring all around us after such a long winter. We had a busy first week back.
Monday was our first day back and everyone was happy to see each other. It was also 100’s Day! It was fun seeing the collections of 100 items and other representations of the number 100. In the afternoon we welcomed Laura Keil in to lead us in a clay sculpting activity. Fun! Later we teamed up with Mrs. Thompson’s class and met new big buddies.
Tuesday we added 12 eggs to our incubator! We will be learning about the life cycle of the chicken and will try to be patient as the eggs develop! The chicks will be available for purchase once they hatch if anyone is interested. Later, we continued our work on isolating the beginning sound in words, went on an Easter egg hunt in math and went to music. We also got our garden bed ready for planting and planted peas!
On Wednesday, we had our literacy centres, went to the gym and Journey and Raewyn presented at the Whole School Meeting. Wednesday was library day. Some kids are missing books from before the break and are asked to return them.
Thursday was another full day. The kids wrote about things they did over the Spring Break, made Easter Egg art and went to Music. Mr. Q came in and we worked on sanding little feather carvings. As always, we ended the day in the forest but this time had an Easter surprise!
Show and tell next week is the letter 'U'.
