June 27th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News

Happy summer everyone! Here are the highlights of our last, jam-packed, week.

On Monday we had our last “free choice” in the gym and practiced our play. In the afternoon we walked down to Drummond Park for our end of the year picnic! There was beach exploration, bubbles, popsicles and fun! Thanks to all the parent volunteers and families who joined. The kids did really well walking down.

Tuesday we let the remaining butterflies go and wrote a poem about butterflies. Then we had our dress rehearsal of The Little Red Hen and the kids preformed for Ms. K’s class. Later we heard about some of the camps and activities being offered at the public library.

On Wednesday, wrote about our summer plans in our journals. In the afternoon the class preformed for many of you, The Little Red Hen. I was very proud at how well they all did at remembering to speak up and remember their lines. Then it was our final forest play of the year.

Thursday was our last day of school for the year! We attended the grade 5 goodbye ceremony and then had our own goodbye celebration. Thanks to all of the families who made it out for this. It meant a lot to the kids and to me. What an amazing year.

Important dates to remember:
September 3rd School starts (grade 1!)

I hope you have a wonderful summer, whatever it is that you do. Thanks for a great year!

June 20th Edition of
The Kindergarten Class News

Hi everyone, only one more week to go!

On Monday we completed self-assessments and did yoga for gym that was inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We also created sun art and practiced our play.

Tuesday we focused on perfecting our printing of our names and numbers. Many of the kids are working on remembering to print all lowerc ase letters within their name or are working on making sure their numbers face the right way. Later we watched Ms. K’s class perform fairy tail skits. The class loved it.

On Wednesday we released our butterflies! It was a fun experience for all, even if some were sad to say goodbye.Later we reflected on our year and wrote about our favourite parts. After the rains cleared we went out to the garden and harvested some of our peas and lettuces! Yum!

Thursday was our big trip to Victoria! Thank you SO much to all of the parents who came along and helped the trip run smoothly. It was a very busy day and I think the kids all had a great time.

Just a reminder that on Monday we walk from the school to Drummond Park. We will be leaving the school at 12:40pm. Everyone is welcome to come and join this year-end picnic tradition. The kids will be catching the bus back to the school for the usual bus runs. If you are attending the picnic you can obviously bring your child home with you from the park.

Then on Wednesday, you are invited to come watch our class perform The Little Red Hen at 2pm in the outdoor classroom. The kids have been working hard on this and are looking forward to performing it.

On Thursday, the last day of school, you are invited to join the class for slideshow highlighting our year. We will start the slideshow at 10:45am. Following the slideshow we will have a completion ceremony and then say goodbye! It is my hope that everyone can be there for this special completion of our year.

Important dates to remember:
June 24th End of year picnic at Drummond Park.
June 26th The Little Red Hen 2pm in the outdoor classroom.
June 27th End of the year slideshow and celebration at 11am, everyone welcome!

Have a nice weekend,
